Minskmetroproekt to design Severomuysky Tunnel-2

The Severomuysky Tunnel-2 company has signed a contract with Minskmetroproekt to develop documentation for construction of the second line of the Severomuysky Tunnel, as reported on the Severomuisk Tunnel-2 website (www.tunnel2.ru).

In accordance with the terms of the contract, Minskmetroproekt takes responsibility for the project passing the state expert appraisal by early 2020. In the future, the design company will provide field supervision during construction of the tunnel.

Construction should begin within a year and take no more than five years. On completion, the capacity of this section of the BAM will increase to 100 million tonnes per year. In developing the design for the project, Minskmetroproekt should ensure that the tunnel can accommodate trains travelling in the same direction every 10 minutes.

Minskmetroproekt – General design engineer for Severomuysky Tunnel-2. The company was founded in 1977. Its main sphere of activity is creating comprehensive designs for tunnels, subways, and other underground structures.

Among its largest projects have been tunnels on the road between Adler and Krasnaya Polyana; tunnels on the road between Alagir and Lower Zaramag in North Ossetia-Alania; and construction in the Minsk and Moscow subway systems. 

Severomuysky Tunnel-2 is a project company founded by the Sibanthracite Group. The VostokCoal company is managing the tunnel’s construction. Investment in the project realization — 60 billion rubles.
